THE PLEASURE OF YOUR COMPANY . . .

For those of you who, over the years, have enjoyed the music of Cape Cod Radio Mystery Theater, which has been an integral part of the quality of the series since its inception, (for example, the inspired CCRMT theme music and the tour-de-force underscoring to shows like Danger at Seven Mile Bend, Don’t Touch That Dial and The Case of the Shooting Star), we invite you to partake of composer Mark Birmingham’s piano based, instrumental CD, Garden Life, featuring the same impeccable musicianship in 9 original compositions that are thrilling, not because they underscore some dramatic scene, but because they are thrilling in themselves. Sample a few tracks here and you’ll see.

Synopsis:
For years an anonymous Cape Cod mural painter
has been adorning the underpass to the Barnstable Village
railroad bridge with images of scantily clad nudes in Clasical
poses. An activity which, although many in the Village enjoy
them and approve, is also illegal and a source of irritation
particuarly to nearby neighbor, Otis Narwhal, who feels the
paintings go too far. With night-vision binoculars he sits
on his portch at night hoping to spy the Phantom Artist at
work and report her to the local police.
When
his spying succeeds he calls in the cops, (including Captain
Underhill ), thinking this will put an end to it, but, unfortunately,
it is only the begininng: the beginning of the suspense and
the beginning of the terror. ‘The Mermaid on Halloween
Bridge’ is a real time suspense thriller perfect for
the Jack-o-Lantern season!
IN THE MEANTIME,
TRY THESE CAPTAIN UNDERHILL MYSTERIES:

“The
Case of the Calico Lobster”
(85
minutes)
Mobster
kidnaps Hercules, world’s largest captive lobster, and holds
it for ransom, threatening to devour it unless radio DJ, Molly
Neptune, pays off her father’s gambling debt. Now Capt. Underhill
must save the lobster before it ‘sleeps with the fishes’.
Includes material contributed by Tom Lehrer.

"The
Case of the Four LIttle Beatles"
(75 minutes)
The Day the Beatles secretly came to Cape Cod is both an historical fact and the departure point for this sendup of Agatha Christies’ classic mystery play, “Ten Little Indians”. Stellar cast includes regulars Dave Ellsworth and Wally O’Hara; Beatles sound alikes; as well as Jerry Nelson , creator of numerous characters from The Muppet Show and Sesame Street (e.g. Count Von Count).
Edgar Allan Crow
and the Purloined, Purloined Letter
Anything can happen at the Antiques Roadshow, including
the discovery of a treasure trove of Edgar Allen Poe memorabilia.
Crooked antiques dealer "Augie Nickleswhite" has his eyes
on the prize. Can Captain Underhill stand in his way? <more>
<audio
clip>
The Cobra in the
Kindergarten
Swift, silent and deadly, it slithers along its path, an
accident waiting to happen. When an Egyptian cobra is accidentally
released across the street from an elementary school, it's
a disaster waiting to happen. Luckily, Captain Underhill and
Doctor Scofield are on hand, but can they run the reptile
to ground? <more>

Learn While You Squirm
“Radio mysteries can grip us, enthrall us, scare us. They can challenge us to match wits with a criminal and be as discerning as a detective. They can help us develop imagination in a way television –often accused of having a stultifying effect—cannot. (Harvard research has shown that activities which develop and nurture the imagination can serve a variety of other skills including logic, problem-solving and design.)
Radio mysteries need not be merely fluff and entertainment. Detective stories can demonstrate logic and reasoning and can draw upon all branches of learning: the natural sciences, physics, chemistry, medicine, law, forensics, the list is endless. They may be as literary as Raymond Chandler, as tightly plotted as James M. Cain. They may also confront social issues."

Cape Cod Radio Mystery
. . .
Perfect
for trips all alone,
To
give one companionship,
When
you’ve got no cell phone,
Except on lonely stretches,
Of
highway exposed.
Who’s
in the backseat?
Nobody knows.

Killers
masquerading,
‘Down

Radio Mysteries . . .
Things
that give one a fright,
Like
drunk drivers driving,
On
Saturday night,
Other
things that go bump in the night.
Cape Cod Radio Mystery

Victims
slumping,
Bodies
sagging,
Underhill
discerning,
Then learning,
Then
testing,
Then
besting,
Then
arresting,
Then
bragging,
Scofield
nagging.

Radio Mystery . . .
We keep singing our name,
Like the proverbial stool pigeon,
Because it lifts us up,
In the verbial search engines,
Repeating key words,
Works very well,
But this is a secret so please
don't tell.
Cape

Try one, if you like,
We hope you'll buy more,
To keep our actors from
succumbing,
To the wolf at the door,
And prevent us from posting,
